Between June and October, Phuket’s west-coast seas can shift quickly as stronger winds and currents sweep ashore. Always check the beach flags before entering the water: red means no swimming, while red and yellow together identify a lifeguarded zone.
If caught in a rip current, stay calm, never fight it, and swim parallel to the shore before returning diagonally. When the sea turns rough, enjoy a shoreline stroll, relax by the pool, or explore inland instead.
